Fortress of Light St. George Reef Lighthouse Crescent City, California

You are indeed my rock and my fortress; for your name's sake lead me and guide me. Psalm 31:3 NRSV I had been wanting to do another picture of St. George Reef Lighthouse for a long time; but, I wanted to draw the mariner's view. (See the first St. George Reef Lighthouse.) I found some old Coast Guard photographs that were taken soon after the lighthouse was completed in 1892. I used those as a guide for what to include in the picture, to make it accurate for that time period. When I draw a picture, I always have to work on some new drawing technique or idea. This was a chance to work more on water. Since there is really not much color in the lighthouse, that was also where I had to put my signature touch of color.
