Christmas in the Country by Wayne Bricco

Christmas in the Country

The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.

John 1:4 NLT

Inside Christmas Card Greeting:
May this Christmas bring you peace,
love and the light of Christ Jesus...
for now and forever!

When I started planning for our 2012 Christmas card, I knew I wanted to have a bunny on a hill in the foreground and I wanted it to be watching the arrival of the Christmas tree. A sleigh seemed to be the best mode of delivery in the snow.

I think the inclusion of the covered bridge must have had something to do with all the bridges I've drawn in the last few months to complete enough for our Oregon Covered Bridges Calendar.

After I 'built' the house and barn on top of the hill, I had to draw a road to get there. I tried several different routes before deciding on this one. I used a photo of the hills between home and Corvallis for the low hills where the house sits... but, the mountains beyond them are definitely not the Coast Range.

One of the things I enjoy about drawing is combining elements from various photographs and ideas to create a new image. I take my own photos so I can capture exactly what I want to draw, but I may move things around in the picture... like I did in Ol' Blue.
